It might cut down the engine noise a bit and it might even give a useful improvement in mpg. The Mk3 is a lot quieter than the Mk2.5 but, again, it's not a true comparison as that's a Titanium. I've driven a mk2.5 1.6TDCi Titanium for 3 yearsnow have a Mk3 1.6TDCi Titanium The sound difference is massive!
clink on links in my signature, for more info. difference between the 1.6 and 1.8 mpg is 2 mpg so thats negligabkle however the 1.8 is more to raod tax as for engines the 1.8 is more tuneable as it can take over 200bhp in standard form the 1.6 cant take anywhere near it the sigma engine was developed by yamaha but if you ever needed the ports
I think they require short service 10000miles to reduce problems with turbos Our 1.8 is a ford made engine whereas the 1.6 is a peugeot built one. I’ve got a 1.6 petrol (mk2 Focus – 115hp

I'm idly considering getting a MK3 Focus in the future to replace my MK2 1.8 Petrol Focus, which has given many years fine service. The problem is the options on the MK3 For petrol engines seem a bit limited, so I thought I'd ask which ones are the most sensible/least trouble. From what I can gather, the options are 1.0 Ecoboost 1.5/1.6 Ecoboost
